Attorney-General Ashcroft and the White House reportedly want to seek the death penalty for accused spy Robert Hanssen. Federal prosecutor Helen Fahey, in charge of the case, prefers to seek life in prison since this might get Hanssen to be more forthcoming on the extent of what he sold the Russians.--Stephen V Cole
