A new report by the French parliament has shocked the French people and government by stating that French arms exports do not provide the financial benefits claimed by the government, and in fact many weapons are sold at a loss simply to maintain jobs in the French defense industry. The report also noted that selling large numbers of weapons overseas does not in fact reduce the cost paid by the French military for those same weapons.--Stephen V Cole
