Fort Huachuca, a U.S. Army base where military intelligence specialists are trained, has had over 3,000 (3,086 actually) unauthorized foreigners, who sneaked onto the base, arrested and removed in the past year. The intruders were not spies, but Mexicans, who had entered the United States illegally, and were moving through the base on their way to distant cities and towns. Fort Huachuca is in Arizona, some 30 kilometers north of the Mexican border. That part of the border is heavily used by people smugglers. In fact, the Arizona border area saw over 400,000 Mexican illegals arrested last year. The ones that enter Fort Huachuca are usually caught in housing and school areas, usually looking for a water tap so they can get a drink. Most of the intruders wander in at night. Fort Huachuca  is also the home of several electronic warfare operations. There are a lot of military secrets at Fort Huachuca, but none of the intruding Mexicans have been caught trying to make off with any classified information or equipment. Fort Huachuca is scheduled lose some civilian employees as part of the current round of base closings.
