Navy Technician Kevin Corr failed to report on time for duty on 31 Jan aboard the cruiser Cape St George as it operated off the Virginia coast. He was assumed to have fallen overboard, and a massive search was mounted by eight Navy ships, two Coast Guard cutters, and three helicopters, totaling more than 2,000 personnel. The search was abandoned on 1 Feb. Five days later, Corr emerged from the store room where he had been hiding and asked to speak to the Chaplain. An investigation is under way.--Stephen V Cole
