Surface Forces: Greek Fast Attack Boats

Archives

October 26, 2006: Greece has launched the last of five fast attack boats, built by British shipbuilder Vosper Thornycroft. The Roussen class boats were built in Greece. Each displaces 580 tons, is 192 feet long and carries a crew of 45. With a top speed of 62 kilometers an hour, the ships are armed with four Exocet anti-ship missiles, a 21 cell RAM anti-aircraft missile system, two torpedo tubes, one twin 30mm anti-aircraft cannon and one 76mm gun. The ship also has some electronic countermeasures and flares (for deceiving heat seeking missiles).
