The many U.S. Department of Defense security and investigative agencies, like DSS (Defense Security Service) and NCIS (Naval Criminal Intelligence Service), are causing a shortage of security personnel. Theres a pressing need to supply security personnel to senior officials and officers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, including the U.S. (most senior commanders, are assigned a Department of Defense civilian security team). Many of these special agents have been pulled out of the regional offices of their agencies in the US and its territories and sent forward. With Iraq, and increased corporate security demands attracting so many trained security personnel, many existing security professionals are leaving for the higher paid jobs overseas. So the Department of Defense is recruiting and training new people as quickly as possible. You can see this by the increasing number of very young men and women performing these plainclothes security work. In the past, the majority of the security personnel were middle-aged men. Pretty tough and serious looking guys, but much older than the faces you see currently.
