The US Army is being criticized for allowing warlords cooperating with the US troops to help themselves to weapons found in sweeps of the mountain valleys. A minority of the seized weapons end up with the national army. But US commanders point out that there is no real national army yet and that the warlords friendly to the US are important in keeping the peace. The central government is going along with this, for the moment.
