The Afghan government is still making a lot of noise about not enough reconstruction aid being received. The donor nations are, more quietly, pointing out that the rampant corruption in Afghanistan makes donations somewhat futile. The Afghan government believes the corruption is a fact of life and won't go away anytime soon, and without billions of dollars of foreign aid, the tribes involved in the drug trade, who derive hundreds of millions of dollars a year from this business, will become the major powers in the country.  No one has a workable solution for dealing with the drug producing tribes either.

The hunt for Taliban leader Mullah Omar continues, but without much fanfare. Special Forces and commandos are using diplomacy and cash on the tribes of southern Afghanistan to nail down who is providing sanctuary for Omar and his aids.
