Coup watch in Turkey? Its something to think about when you head that Turkey's senior military officers are worried about the way the current Islamist-leaning government is running the nation. But thats at least one line of press speculation coming out of Turkey. The armys chief of staff has objected to the appointment of Islamists to administrative posts in the government. General Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, appointed the military as the guardian of Turkeys secular democracy. The Islamist-leaning Justice and Development Party (AKP) took control of the government in November 2002.
