Macedonia celebrated the 100th anniversary of the 1903 revolt against Ottoman (Turk) rule. The revolt took place on August 2, 1903. The center of the revolt was the town of Krusevo. A republic was declared. The Ottomans put down the revolt, in typically brutal fashion.
