China's Nanjing University of Aeronautics has developed a miniature unmanned aerial vehicle weighing only 3/4 of a pound, with a wingspan of less than 18 inches. Powered by a small gasoline engine, it can fly at 50mph and has an endurance of 20 minutes. It carries a video camera and provides real-time reconnaissance.--Stephen V Cole
