March 31, 2007: In East Timor, pre-election violence is increasing, as gangs loyal to different candidates try to intimidate voters. The vote takes place on April 9. East Timor remains a basket case, with little hope of economic recovery. Electing political leaders that can reduce violence would be a start, but it's not certain that will work.

March 27, 2007: Based on interrogations of terrorist suspects arrested last week, another bomb cache was found, containing 44 pounds of explosives and 20 detonators.

March 23, 2007: In the last few days, police raids resulted in six Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorists arrested, one killed and the capture of bomb making materials. At least twenty bombs, completed or under construction, were seized. Other weapons and munitions were seized as well, and documents
