The PKK, which is now known as Kongra-Gel (Kurdistan People's Congress), announced an end to its five year, unilateral, ceasefire. The Turkish government never recognized the ceasefire. PKK is losing a lot of support, not just because of many military defeats, but also because Turkey has ended many of the restrictions on the use of the Kurdish language and culture in Turkey.
