At the site of the former American Clark air force, a statue honoring the first Japanese Kamikaze pilots (who made their attacks in late 1944), has attracted thousands of Japanese tourists in the last ten months. There were protests at the statute (of a Kamikaze pilot) being erected. But the statue brings in the tourists, and business, so the agitation has been verbal, not physical.
