Heavy fighting in Chechnya, with three Russian troops and ten rebels dead and 56 rebel suspected arrested. In Georgia, U.S. air force personnel are preparing two airports to support American C-130 transports. American military trainers, as well as new equipment, will train Georgian troops. In northern Georgia, local ethnic Chechens have been harboring refugees and rebels from Chechnya in the Pankisi Gorge area. The Georgian army has not been able to do much about it.
