Despite the ongoing peace negotiations, violence and fighting continues in Burundi. Government forces and rebels fought what looks like a major two-day long firefight outside of Bujumbura along a road called RN9. The firefight took place in what AFP called "the Tenga-Muzinga-Kivoga area." The area includes several major coffee plantations. The National Liberation front (FNL), a Hutu rebel organization, is said to draw substantial support from the region.
