The first contingent of African Union (AU) peacekeepers arrived in Bujumbura, Burundi. 100 South African troops, led by General Sipha Bindo, flew into the Burundi capital's airport and then moved to a lager area nearby. The AU plans on deploying a force of around 3,500 troops. The FDD, however, issued a statement that basically said the Hutu rebels believe the AU force amount to a "reinforcement" for the Burundian Army. (Austin Bay)
