Uganda reported that its helicopter gunships killed over 50 LRA rebels in strikes around the Alero refugee camp and on the road to Kochgoma. The helicopter attacks took place on July 3 and 4. A Ugandan spokesman said that many of the LRA troops killed were part of a covering force. A larger LRA force was retreating with loot taken from raids on villages and camps. A subsequent report said Ugandan Army helicopter strikes continued on July 5, as the helicopters engaged part of the LRA force that raided Alero on July 4.
