Under tremendous pressure from the US, Israel agreed to cancel the sale of its Phalcon airborne radar to China. The radar was intended for installation in a Russian-built A-50 airborne radar aircraft. While the Phalcon system was inferior to American AWACS designs, it was a giant step beyond anything that China or Russia currently have.--Stephen V Cole
