In a sure sign that the LURD rebels are now a very serious threat, Lebanese merchants, who control most of the wholesale trade, have begin evacuating their families. Lebanese came to West Africa in the 1980s, to escape civil war in Lebanon. Meanwhile, LURD has been fighting government troops in the towns of Klay (35 kilometers north of the capital) and Arthington (20 kilometers northwest) for the last few days.
