Three people were killed in two separate attacks by LRA rebels in Pader district on 20 June, during which a UPDF barracks was overrun and burnt. However, those UPDF barracks were largely empty or deserted, as the soldiers were deployed in operations inside southern Sudan. The rebels simply marched through Aswa Bridge from Gulu to Pader, breaking into shops to loot goods and food, before withdrawing towards Goma Hills in Aruu county. The rebels also burnt a Lira-bound vehicle from Kitgum, as well as parts of the Lacek-Ocot protected camp (leaving many displaced people homeless). The LRA might attack more UPDF barracks in order to get ammunition. The UPDF adopted new measures on the 21st, putting troops in the Northern parts of Gulu district (North Uganda) schools in order to prevent the LRA raiders from kidnapping any more Ugandan children. - Adam Geibel
